I feel pretty blessed today to say that I’ve had this website for four years, and only a few days ago it was my four year anniversary for my editing business, Hooked On Words Editorial. (If you’re interested in finding an editor, email hookedonwordses@gmail.com for a free sample edit.) I offer developmental editing, copy editing and proofreading services for a reasonable price. But that’s not the point of this post!
Today, I’ve spent hours designing my site for MailChimp, which is an online site that you can use for email marketing, and I’m getting ready to start my newsletter. My friend Ally, pictured in the centre of the photo above, told me about MailChimp, and that she uses it for her own newsletter subscriptions for her readers. So today I’ve been designing my own. I may also put in the odd teaser chapter or piece of character art, so keep an eye out for that as well.
I’m currently rewriting book two in my A World of Magic, A World of Steel series, so you’ll hear updates about the publication process for this. Steel Princess is also finally getting an audiobook after being published for over a year and a half. Better late than never! I recently posted a video about this process below.
I’m excited to get this process going! I’ll start sending out updates as soon as I build up my emailing list, and I’ll have more to give away each month as I start working on the process of publishing another book. I have my cover booked in for the end of Feb for Songbird Heir, and my audiobook deadline for Steel Princess is in the same month, so it should be an exciting time.
Songbird Heir is going to be a big pirate adventure just like in book one, but it will be narrated by Adelia, a character who really stood out to me while I was writing Steel Princess. She’s told me her story, and now I’m excited to get it out into the world. I’m doing my first big rewrite of the first draft, and the story is coming together nicely. As for Silver, she’s going to be busy in Sularia with Prince Elijah, trying to help him free his twin sister from captivity in the ruined palace where Queen Silver, the queen that started it all, is holding her under lock and key, and caged like a bird. I can’t wait for you to get sucked back into their adventures again.
